Private reference service. This is not a government office. It cannot confirm custody or release anyone, post bond, pull an official booking record, or change a court file. Those questions must go to the agency or court that holds the record.

Columbus County Records Contact

For county custody, booking records, or a possible booking photo, begin with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office. Its public contact pages list the main office at 817 Washington Street, Whiteville, NC 28472, telephone (910) 642-6551, fax (910) 642-4321, and info@columbussheriff.com. The sheriff’s regular office hours are listed as Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Ask for the records custodian and give a name, date, arresting agency, and specific existing record.

Which Office Has the Answer?

Use the following routing map rather than sending a question to a third-party publisher. A current report, an old booking record, a police report, a court disposition, and a state or federal custody record are different items.

  • Find a mugshot or booking record: start with the county custody and records page, then ask CCSO for the existing record.
  • Check a wanted or warrant matter: use Sheriff’s Most Wanted, CCSO’s Warrants/records route, or the Columbus County clerk and magistrates.
  • See who was recently arrested: check the dated CCSO report; the county has no verified official same-day feed.
  • Follow a court case: use eCourts for navigation and the clerk for a certified or authoritative copy.
  • Check state custody: use the NCDAC offender search, which does not include county jail records.
  • Check federal or immigration custody: use the BOP locator or ICE locator, each for its own custody system.

City Police Contacts

For a municipal arrest report, contact the originating city department. Current source details should be verified because county directories can be older than an agency’s own page.

The city pages do not establish a public daily booking roster, a photo policy, a fixed fee, or a guaranteed response time. Ask for the current records custodian.

Requesting a Record

Keep a request narrow. Ask for the booking sheet, custody record, arrest report, release record, or booking photograph for a named person and date. Ask whether the office maintains the item and whether any part is withheld under Chapter 132 or § 132-1.4. North Carolina’s public-records guidance generally distinguishes inspection from actual copy cost and does not provide one universal response deadline for every request.

For an urgent threat, call 911. For non-emergency information about a wanted person, use the official CCSO tip form. A tip form is not a records request and does not guarantee that a sender’s identity is protected from every lawful disclosure.
